On October 5th, I will have the great honor to be performing an evening of songs and stories from the musical opera piece “Least of My Children”. This musical work was composed in the 1980s by my late father, the composer Loren Linnard, and his writing partner, the librettist Bob Briggs. The piece grapples with the AIDS crisis, hope, and queer love. After lying dormant for almost 40 years, I am on a quest to bring this nearly forgotten piece to the stage.
The showcase event will feature song selections from the opera and celebrate “Least of My Children”’s remarkable historical legacy. The performance will be on Monday, October 5th at 7:00pm at Oakland Theater Project in downtown Oakland, California. Tickets are pay-what-you-can but reservations are required. I hope you can join us for this exciting musical journey. The event will also feature the magnificent Diana Lee on piano.
